According to the Brahma Purana, Gudi Padwa is the sacred day when Lord Brahma created the universe and marked the beginning of Satyuga, the golden age of truth and dharma. This day is celebrated as the Hindu New Year in many parts of India – as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, Ugadi in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, Cheti Chand among Sindhi communities, and in different forms across India and the world.

It is a day of new beginnings, where people raise the Gudi (a decorated flag symbolizing victory, prosperity, and warding off negativity) outside their homes. It is believed that by worshipping on this day, one receives blessings for a fresh start, prosperity, wisdom, good health, and spiritual upliftment.

The scriptures say that on this day, worshipping Lord Brahma, Lord Rama, Goddess Saraswati, and the Navagrahas helps in aligning planetary energies for the whole year ahead.
